It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of an Adventures in Odyssey actress who worked her way into the hearts of countless fans. Janet Waldo, voice of Joanne Woodston-Allen and Maureen Hodges, passed away at age 96 on Sunday, June 12, 2016.

Paired up as the perfect companion for Jack Allen, Joanne Allen added a unique sweetness to the show and personality that can never be replaced. Janet Waldo voiced six characters over the years, beginning with her appearance as Maureen Hodges in Wonderworld (1992), and concluding her role as Joanne Allen in Home Again, Part 2 (2012). Janet Waldo appears in 38 episodes spanning 20 years. Her most well known character is Joanne Woodston-Allen, wife of Jack Allen.

Janet Waldo is best known as the voice of Judy Jetson on the popular cartoon series “The Jetsons” from 1962-1987. She began her acting career in 1938 and her work spans animation, live-action films, radio, and television, Janet’s distinctive voice has landed her many roles, and she focused on animation for many years. She has voiced characters for some of the most popular cartoons in TV history.

This news arrives less than a month after announcing the passing of Alan Young, voice of Jack Allen. With a show that has impacted thousands, if not millions, of people during its nearly 30-year run, it is natural to reach a point in the show’s history when older generations of talent begin to fade away. These actors have had a good run, and we’re thankful for their talent and sacrifices they made to influence families in a positive way.
