AIO Music on Piano

I was asked to post this here as well...

The Adventures in Odyssey theme is a very important, fun, and memorial piece of music from Odyssey, written by John Campbell. I have recently begun to transcribe songs from CD onto sheet music, and thought that the AIO theme would be a great song to write sheet music for. After much listening and working it out on my piano, I wrote sheet music for the original version of the Adventures in Odyssey theme (used from 1988-91). That first transcription was for a small orchestra (the instruments from the song). After writing that, I arranged the music for piano, because that is what I play. The song is very complicated, and it almost needed more than just 10 fingers to play it. Because of this, I arranged the song for both solo piano and four-hands-one-piano. After many weeks (months) of putting it off, I have finally recorded myself playing the four-hands arrangement!

With that looooong (*hides*) introduction, here's the video! Both parts are played by me, and I apologize for the bad quality and bad split-screen. Yes...there are 5 extra keys on the piano in the video, because that was the best way to split the screen and view both hands. This was put together rather quickly, so it's not the best, but I'm glad I finally have it recorded. :P Enjoy!
*All rights and ownership belong to Focus on the Family and John Campbell. I own nothing.*

I do have the sheet music, but since I don't have ownership or the rights to this song, I will only share the music privately for private use. Send me a PM if you are interested in the music, and I can send you either a PDF or a file for sheet music programs.

You are very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it. ^_^

And I've been hearing that a lot... I'm surprised no pianist that plays by ear has done this before. o_0 (I don't even play by ear :P)

Thank you Belle! \:D/

I just want to point out, that I don't naturally play by ear, actually. I had to sit down at the piano and work real hard to figure out all notes of the song. So, actually, I'm just as jealous of people that can play by ear, Belle. :P

I want this.

So, may I ask how long it is (in pages), and whether you plan on undertaking the transposing of any of the other versions of the theme?

One of the most well-known songs of the Doo-Wop era, its sound reflecting perfectly the general concept of the genre. Originally sung by The Monotones. (1957)

*inserts a long list of thank yous* :P

Thank you Bethany! I'm glad you enjoyed it. ^_^

Thanks Mandy! =D I wish I could write songs like you.

Thank you SirWhit! It depends what you mean "by ear." I did not have any other previous sheet music before I started arranging this song. BUT, I didn't just sit down at the piano and have it arranged, because I don't naturally play by ear. I just listened to the 1988 version of the song a billion times and wrote out each individual piece from the small orchestra on the song. And then, I arranged it for piano.

Thank you Steppy! You are very kind. =)

OJ =D Well, that depends. As for the arrangement I played, it is 5 pages long for both parts on the same pages; or just the Primo part is 2 pages and just the Secondo part is 1 page. I also have arrangements for solo piano, Advanced and Intermediate. The former is 2 pages long and the latter is one page. Just send me a PM, and I'll send you a copy of all three. ^_^

As for other arrangements, I was also asked this on the ToO, and I've decided I may try if I have time. I actually started on a few measures of the 1992 (movie) theme, but that's again writing out each individual part of the orchestra, and then I'll arrange it for piano. So yes, I may transcribe (which is the correct word, not transpose ;) ) other versions of the theme, but it'll take a while. The newer ones get much more complicated as they go on.

Again, thank you everyone! I'm glad I could make you all smile. :wacky:

I HAVE A NEW VIDEO OUT! \:D/ Watch my arrangement of "Every Day is Thanksgiving Day" from episode "A Thankstaking Story." This is a beautiful song and I loved arranging my own cover for it. If you'd like the chord sheets or midi of my arrangement, contact me via PM and I'll send them to you. Enjoy, and Happy Thanksgiving!
