Technically Paddington 2 is 2018...
I also voted for Coco and Beauty and the Beast. I think I'm becoming a Disnerd.
Yeah, I don't understand the hate that I've heard for it. I've heard some people say it was "boring", but I think they sort of misunderstood the point of the film. It's a murder mystery, and follows the investigation, which consists mostly of passenger interviews. It's not meant to be a fast-paced thriller, it's an adaptation of a classic mystery. And it did a very good job of honoring the classic, and of bringing the characters (especially Poirot) to life. I personally think the book did a better job of the mystery portion, but I was never in it for the mystery (as I had already read the book), so that wasn't a huge issue for me.Miss Friendship wrote:What? *goes to vote* I really enjoyed this one, however my friends all claimed they fell asleep in theater because it was that awful... They made it seem like something was wrong with me for enjoying it.Belle wrote:I'm surprised that I'm the only one who voted for Murder on the Orient Express. It was done so well, and I got to see it in theaters two times.

Beauty and the best was ok. Well graphics and acting and all it was just that last part kinda ruined it for me.

Ya know what? I was thinking particularly about what Miss Friendship said:
-- Wed Mar 28, 2018 1:28 pm --
Also, "Small Minded"? Is it small minded to disagree with someone? Is it small minded to not have the same beliefs? Is it small minded for me to listen to what I was taught and what I believe? Is it really small minded to listen to my conscience? I am not hating on it. It's just I don't like movies trying to push their agenda on me. So really the reality is if you are calling other peoples arguments small minded it's just in its own way small minded. People say we need to be open to all things such as homosexuality. So if you are pressing us to consider your side shouldn't you also consider ours? I believe in what the Bible says.
-- Wed Mar 28, 2018 1:30 pm --
And I know that the majority of the people her support homosexuality. I respect your opinion. If you thought critically and came to that conclusion than what can I attack?
-- Wed Mar 28, 2018 1:51 pm --
Also just to clarify, I am NOT a hater. Its just I don't really support it.
I have the right to my opinion. If things like that make me uncomfortable can't I express that? The Bible says in 1 Timothy 1:19 "keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith." If I find it goes against my conscience to see stuff like that should I ignore that? Also I believe with a topic like this yes it's bad for people to hate on homosexuality, but isn't it just as worst to hate on the haters? If every Christian gave back hate when they were given hate where would we be? So this has just been something bugging me. So saying something like "I'm gonna scream bloody murder until all the haters ears go deaf" isn't much better than someone hating on homosexuals. If somebody isn't comfortable with a subject like that I believe that you shouldn't try to shove acceptance down their throat. But yeah. I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for this. But I would just ask if everyone could respect each others opinions. We all can't agree on everything. It's simply human.Miss Friendship wrote:If this is about the gay part, I'm gonna scream bloody murder until all the haters ears go deaf.Belle wrote:Last part?TheDoctor wrote:Beauty and the best was ok. Okay, so first of all, I’m like 85% sure Miss Friendship was being sarcastic with her post.
The other thing has been a phenomenon for maybe 70 years, and usually involves some people getting their feelings hurt. If you wanted to dig a little, I’m sure you could find some cases of bullying and abuse, which of course should be deplored, but there’s really no contest as to which of these has resulted in more harm.
Here’s an example of some sincerely held (religious) beliefs I would not respect, regardless of the fact that the person who expressed them was a devout man who based them on (his interpretation of) the Bible.
Keep in mind that Bob Jones University wanted to deny admittance to black people while being tax exempt, and got widespread support from American evangelicals. This issue actually became a major rallying point for the religious right in the 1976 Presidential election. BJU continued to advocate for segregation into the 1990s.
Is that not what you did?The Doctor wrote:If things like that make me uncomfortable can't I express that?
Not really. One of these things has led to centuries of persecution, including state-sponsored execution, torture, imprisonment, the destruction of entire families, suicide, minority stress, massacres, and forced marriages, all of which continue into modern times. The Doctor wrote:Also I believe with a topic like this yes it's bad for people to hate on homosexuality, but isn't it just as worst to hate on the haters?

I mean, “small minded” is a pretty subjective term to start with, but it depends on what you’re disagreeing with. If your position is “I don’t want any gay people in my movies if their sexuality isn’t treated like a disease or joke,” then yes, I would call that small minded. I’m critical of the idea that all sincerely held beliefs are worthy of respect. Certainly I would want to extend some level of respect to all people, but that doesn’t necessarily apply to what they say and do, especially if it results in demonstrable harm to others. The Doctor wrote:Also, "Small Minded"? Does this apply to God’s Not Dead and The War Room, or just movies with gay people in them? The Doctor wrote:I am not hating on it. It's just I don't like movies trying to push their agenda on me.
As an actual gay person and someone who has participated on this board for the last 6 years, I can assure you this is not the case. The Doctor wrote:And I know that the majority of the people her support homosexuality.

I think you definitely have a point, however, if you are watching those movies you are most likely religious, considering the main theme in those movies is religious themes. If you go to see Beaty and the Beast, you are most likely going for nostalgia or just because it was a big deal. I doubt you would go see the Beauty and the Beast JUST because it has hinted at homosexuality.Tea Ess wrote:Does this apply to God’s Not Dead and The War Room, or just movies with gay people in them? The Doctor wrote:I am not hating on it. I do agree with The Docter that it honestly just seemed very unnecessary to hint at that, but I think it was made far too big a deal considering that there was literally more gayness in Scooby-Doo.
I am definitely not calling anyone else, this is just from personal experience that Christians can sometimes be a bit hypocritical (this really goes both ways though). And I think it is important to try and see from both sides.

Its two guys who accidentally end up dancing. Whop-de-do. I used to go this homeschool Civil War Ball thing, and there were probably 60% girls in attendance and only 40% guys, so often girls ended up dancing with each other. And it wasn't homosexual or sexual at all it was just friends having fun. >_>

Yeah, it happens all the time at the one where I'm at. It's really not a big deal. Trust me, I would have prefered the movie without that moment, but it hardly lasted a single second, and people made it waaaay to big of a deal.TheDoctor wrote:Belle wrote:Its two guys who accidentally end up dancing.
