New Album: Danger Signals
The latest in the series of albums of the
popular Adventures in Odyssey radio show based on our town will be released
in September from Focus on the Family.
Cover Art
The
Cover art for an Adventures in Odyssey album is always a challenge because
the art is the first thing that catches the eye about the album. When
considering the possible scenes to portray on an album cover, the team
considered which scenes would be the most powerful and dramatic. Ultimately,
the scene from "Green Eyes and Yellow Tulips" was chosen.
Title - "Danger Signals"
Occasionally when deciding on a title for new
Odyssey albums, there is one name that stands above the rest and all others
pale in comparison. However, more often the title is chosen from a list of
many.
Here are a few of the other possibilities that were considered for "Danger
Signals."
Episodes
The album includes episodes from the spring
2001 season on the Odyssey radio show.
Characters
Several new characters were introduced in
this album. Mary Hopkins, proprietor of Mary's Story Shop and Whit's partner
for the new Whit's End, made her appearance. Everyone's favorite postal
worker Wooton Bassett arrived at Whit's End. Robert Mitchell started working
for Novacom and became Connie's friend. Finally, Barry Muntz disappeared
with the Imagination Station plans and handed them off to a mysterious
shadowy character.
Review
Variety is a word often used in connection
with Adventures in Odyssey and it certainly applies to the latest album. The
album continues the Novacom story that began in the last album, "The Big
Picture," though some of the storylines don't reference Novacom directly.
The W. E. starts the possibility of a new Whit's End while Chains and
Breaking Point show the beginnings of the construction. Green Eyes and
Yellow Tulips tells us more about Novacom while introducing Robert Mitchell.
There's also a court trial (Broken Window), a couple of "slice of life"
shows (Break a Leg, Fifteen Minutes), an historical love story (The
Triangle), a wacky adventure (Snow Day), and a show introducing a new
character (Welcoming Wooton).
All in all, a great variety of shows!
